Vetia strengthens its portfolio with the acquisition of Grupo Maymó by Zendal

The company, which will double its turnover with this integration, will offer industry professionals ‘a complete and diversified range of products’.

Madrid, 17 January 2024 –

Vetia Animal Health, a subsidiary of the Zendal Group, has strengthened its portfolio of pharmacological products for animal health thanks to the acquisition by the Zendal Group of the pharmaceutical company Laboratorios Maymó and Laboratorios e Industrias Iven.

This operation, which will enable Vetia Animal Health to double its turnover, follows the acquisition in 2021 by Grupo Zendal of the pharmaceutical company Laboratorios Ovejero, whose products have been marketed by Vetia ever since.

‘The integration of Maymó and Iven allows us, due to their business volume, to accelerate our growth and position ourselves as a benchmark company in animal health in the production animal sector,’ confirms Vetia Animal Health CEO Jürgen Brandner. ‘We are expanding our portfolio by adding a wide range of pharmacological products that will allow us to work in synergy with our recognised biologics and address pathologies in a more comprehensive way.

In addition, the line of natural herbal supplements produced by the Indian company Natural Remedies, which Maymó had been distributing, gives Vetia Animal Health access to a ‘new, growing and promising’ market segment, Brandner adds. The aim is to boost this range: ‘We believe it requires specialised and differentiated attention. Natural nutritional supplements are booming. The veterinary sector is looking for complementary alternatives to the use of antibiotics and other pharmacological treatments, and products such as Phytocee, Feed-X, Stodi-D, have proven to be a very valid option’.

The incorporation of Maymó and Iven will also complete Vetia’s portfolio with hormonal products, mainly aimed at bovine species. It will also allow the company to penetrate the Portuguese market, where it has not been present until now.

To adapt its team to these new challenges, the company has expanded its sales network, added a pig technician and created a Key Account Manager position. The nutritional products line, meanwhile, will have at least three people in its team.

‘We are now in a position to offer industry professionals, veterinarians and farmers a complete and diversified range of products,’ confirms Vetia Animal Health’s CEO. ‘Our main objective is to continue to be an agile and efficient alternative by providing solutions, services and quality products that help the veterinary and livestock sector to improve the health and welfare of their animals and, with it, the profitability of their farms.
